IEEE UK and Ireland Section is organising an in-person public event in London, 30th October 2025
The IEEE UK and Ireland Section is organising an in-person public event in London, from 5pm – 7:30pm, focused on discussing the application of Digital Twins in different domains. This event is hosted by Queen Mary University of London. IEEE and non-IEEE Members are invited to participate.
Digital Twins are dynamic data-driven models that replicate physical entities or processes. These are essentially digital models that mirrors the real-world counterpart in (near) real-time, capturing its behaviour, attributes, and performance. Their potential lies in the ability to model complex systems, simulate change, and optimise outcomes thus empowering decision makers in various fields including healthcare, smart cities, manufacturing, and more. This panel features seasoned speakers working in the design and applications of digital twins, who will present the state-of-the-art research including successes, challenges, and their vision for the future of digital twins.
Speakers include:
- Prof Akram Alomainy, Deputy Dean for Postgraduate Research, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Queen Mary University of London
- Paul M Cunningham, Chair, IEEE UK and Ireland Section
- Dr Caroline Roney, Reader in Computational Medicine, School of Engineering and Materials Science, Queen Mary University of London and UKRI Future Leaders Fellow
- Prof Jennifer Schooling, Professor of Digital Innovation and Smart Places, Anglia Ruskin University
- Prof Berk Canberk, Professor at Edinburgh Napier University, UK
- Dr Jason Shepherd, Fujitsu Distinguished Engineer
