IEEE ITSS Workshop: Next Generation Digital Twins for Infrastructure Resilience

📅 Date: July 10th, 2025

🕙 Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

📍 Location: Colette Bowe Meeting Room, Queen’s Building, Queen Mary University of London, E1 4NS

The IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (ITSS) is hosting a two-hour interactive workshop focused on next-generation digital twins powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Digital twins are dynamic virtual models of physical systems or processes that replicate real-world behaviour in real time through sensors and simulations. These models enable real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and performance optimisation, particularly valuable when applying such techniques directly to physical systems is costly, risky, or infeasible.

This workshop aims to:

  • Initiate a cross-disciplinary working group,
  • Facilitate expert discussion, and
  • Produce a summary white paper to support the growing community focused on autonomous digital twins for infrastructure resilience

The speaker is Dr. Shady Adib, a researcher specialising in Digital Twins in the UK and Egypt, with expertise in Structural Health Monitoring. The event was led by Dr. Mona Jaber, Senior Lecturer in IoT at Queen Mary University of London and supported by the IEEE Student Branch.

Who is welcome to attend:

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • PhD researchers
  • Academic staffs
  • Industry professionals and partners interested in digital infrastructure, AI, or IoT applications in transportation and the built environment
