QMUL IEEE Student Paper Contest 2009

Dear EECS MSc. Students,

You have just finished you MSc. studies and ave probably spent a lot of time this year and this summer working on your MSc. project and thesis. Would you like to see your efforts rewarded?

What about transforming this project report or thesis into an article and submit it at the QMUL IEEE Student Paper Contest 2009?

It should be fairly easy and quick and you can win one of the following cash prizes:

1st prize (best paper): £100

2nd prize: £50

3rd prize: £25

The articles will be reviewed by a panel of teachers and researchers from QMUL.

In addition, the best paper will be submitted to the IEEE Region 8 Student Paper Contest.

For this Region 8 Contest, selected finalists will be asked to orally present their work during the IEEE Conference MELECON 2010 in Malta (travel expenses to this conference will be covered by IEEE).

The authors of the three best Region 8 papers will receive cash prizes (last year these prizes were respectively USD 800, USD500 and USD200).

In other words: by entering now the QMUL IEEE Student Branch local Student Paper Contest you can win two cash prizes and participate in an IEEE Conference!

The rules of our paper contest and guidelines for the authors can be found in the attached document.

In particular please note that:

– The work reported in the article must have been conducted during undergraduate or MSc. studies (the author may be a 1st year PhD student now but should write an article about his/her MSc. research not about his/her current PhD research)

– Work already published cannot be submitted to this contest

– The work need not be original in engineering content, but should be original in treatment and concise in coverage of the author’s contribution to the subject

– The authors must be an IEEE Student Member (to become a member please contact us)

– Papers should cover technical and engineering aspects of a subject reasonably within or related to the areas with which the IEEE is concerned with. Notice that numerous fields are covered by IEEE including fields in Engineering, Computer Science, Biology, Physics, etc. (a full list of IEEE related fields can be found here: http://www.ieee.org/portal/pages/tab/tabopman/section4.html)

Submissions must be sent to ieeeqmul@googlemail.com before Sunday 15th November 2009 11:59p.m. (GMT) and must include:
